It is the capital town of the Kachin state, 1480 km far from Yangon and 785 km far from Mandalay, located on the high northern land near the China border line and Naga land to the west.Topologically,it has about 200000 population and Kachin are major population of Myintkhyina and other ethnic groups of Kachin family are also found.In Burmese, The name Myintkyina means "near the big river “ .It is mostly known as the town of the birth place of the great river Ayeyarwaddy of Myanmar.The two river Mai Ka and Mali ka joint at 40 km from Myintkyina and these two rivers joint give birth to a big river called Ayeyarawaddy.It is not the main tourist site in Myanmar and sometimes it is restricted due to some insurgencies .The most interesting places in Myintkyina are the birth place of the Ayeyarwaddy river , the biggest lake of Myanmar " Innedawgyi "and some christian churches The city is calm ,cold ,misty the whole year round and exotically beautiful .
