Loikaw is situated 145 km from south of Inle lake and it elevates about 900 m above sea level.It is the capital city of Kayah State .Topologically , it is inhabited by Kayah who are one of the major ethnic groups of Myanmar and they are also called " Red Karen" . Loikaw region is so interesting and it is also home for Long-Neck Karen ladies known as " Giraffe women " to most westerners and locally known as Padaung.Around loikaw, there are many villages of those long-neck Karen (Padaug) .In fact ,they are main tourist attraction for the area.In addition to ethically interesting aspects , Kayah land is so beautiful with mountains , paddy fields and water falls .Thus it would not be a wrong choice to pay a visit to loikaw to meet special long -neck Karen ladies and discover their daily life , their culture , their home land and to enjoy the scenic nature of Kayah Land .

Taung Kwe Pagoda : The symbolic pagoda of Liokaw being situated on two separated small rocks .It is alike a tower and it is worth to visit to have panorama view over city and region .
Cultural Museum : Cultural museum is well recommended to do before you visit different tribes around loikaw so that you understand in depth about different tribes and their cultures . Museum display well different sub groups of Kayah with names and their different costumes , their rituals which you will not see out of the season

Main Market : It is better to visit loikaw main market and you will see beautiful and colorful vegetables plus traditional goods .
Karen Villages : Karen with long brass rings are so interesting and there are several vilalges that you can visit .Most recommended villages are Pan Pet village and Tanee Lalae Village .
