Taungoo
The city lies over 500 400 km to the north of Yangon and one other big city in Myanmar. It was once the center of the most powerful post –Bagan Kingdoms in 16 centuries, the founder was king Mingyinyo. Its historical site of Kingdom is not so much visible in the city except the ruins city walls. It is just the typical central Myanmar town supported by timber trade. It is situated near Bago mountain ranges, the sources of teak and other hard woods. It is also known for its Betel leaf (Myanmar traditional chewing leaf together with Tabaco and betel nut) production. Kayin state and Kayah state are nearby and some insurgents of these states mostly operate and due to this fact, it was an off- limit for foreigner a decade ago. But Mainly, we go to Taungoo for the Elephant camp of theBago mountain ranges.

Main Places to see

Shwesandaw Pagoda

It is the most important pagoda containing the Buddha hairs relic in Pyay and lies on the hill at the center of the town. It is as famous as others Buddha hair relic Pagoda in Myanmar. The view over the city, the river from its terraces and is beautiful and also, there is about 25m tall sitting Buddha nearby and can pay a visit to it either.

ShweMyatMhan Pagoda

The Buddha with Glasses Pagoda is also popular pagoda in Shwetaung town ,8 km form Pyay. You can see the Buddha with Glasses and also the town which have some many cotton blanket weaving looms.
