Situated on the mountain of the southern Shan State ,700 km form Yangon, Inle lake is the second largest lake in Myanmar. It is 32 km and 11 km wide and inhabited by the Intha (a particular tribe of Myanmar) meaning’ people of the lake ‘. This in-habitation makes Inle lake different and popular from other lakes. There are about 100,000 Intha( inhabitants of Inle lake) living in the over 50 villages on the lake. They live on the agriculture and fishing and their floating island garden are famous. Intha fisher folk propelling their boats along via their unique technique of leg-rowing is very unique. Moreover, Inle lake is rich in biodiversity and became one of the world biosphere reserves of UNESO. The nature around the lake is unspoiled, beautiful and very typical with villages of others minorities such as Shan, Pa’O, Taung Yoe, Danu and Kayah.The five-day market of the Inle lake is very colorful with these ethnics in their colorful dresses.
